Study of Conservation Project of Persatuan Sejarah Malaysia Cawangan Terengganu, and Rumah haji Su (Kuala Terengganu, Malaysia)
The conservation of wooden structures must be
accomplished with precise and detailed methods to ensure the valuable structure
is well preserved regardless of the era.
Rumah Warisan Haji Su has Malay architecture
with a combination of two architectural features, namely Rumah Bujang Berpeleh
and also Rumah Limas Belanda or Potong Belanda.
The uniqueness of the architecture and the
importance of local history is an attraction to the Terengganu State Museum
Board to preserve this mansion. It is also able to attract foreign tourists to
come and visit Terengganu for those who see for themselves the heritage value
found in the architecture of this old building.
The original owner of this house is Su Mohammed
Salleh bin Haji Mohamad or better known as Haji Su. In 2008, the Terengganu
State Museum Board took the initiative to obtain an allocation from the
Terengganu State Government to take over the mansion.
After obtaining approval from the Terengganu
State Government, in 2010 the building was successfully taken over at a cost of
3.2 million including the cost of land and maintained with knowledge of Malay
architecture which symbolizes the essence of technological progress, high
artistic value and cultural patterns.
The central part of the Dutch Limas house is very spacious to entertain guests. On the right there is more space before the path to the house of Bujang Berpeleh Kembar Tiga.
An overhaul process that maintains the original structure. The modern annex house was demolished.
This Terengganu Malay house was built taking into account Islamic manners and Malay culture. Verandah, separation of parents' and children's rooms, separate guest and family room, spacious kitchen, bathroom outside.
